Hurricanes and politics - Brownsville Political Buzz | Examiner.com: In light of the 20 year commemoration of Hurricane Andrew's destruction on South Florida and the role it played in the 1992 Presidential campaign, it's interesting to observe the role Hurricane Isaac appears to be playing in the current Presidential campaign.


Many political pundits credit Bill Clinton’s interaction with the masses in Homestead, Florida following Hurricane Andrew as being more personal than that of President George H. Bush’s historically short two hour visit and helping him to secure the presidency.
